Thanks to Auntie Google, I have been introduced to Humulus lupulus. Isn’t that just the best name? It’s one of the few plants whose name sounds exactly as it should, and whomever dreamed it up must have had a mean streak, since it could never be pronounced by anyone who’d had one too many. Beers, that is. Humulus lupulus is the hop plant and yes, you can grow one in your garden if you want. You can also make it into beer, if you want, but that’s another story.
