Film is often regarded as a single art form, but split it open even a little and dozens of other forms of art and expression start to spill out: acting, directing, screenwriting, editing, audio mixing and sound design, makeup, set design, costumes and many others.
All of those arts come together once again for Indian Market’s annual Native Cinema Showcase, a six-day film festival that opens August 15 and leads directly into the market. This year’s showcase, the majority of which will be held at the New Mexico History Museum, will feature more than 50 films, all of them giving a voice to Native American filmmakers, characters or subjects.
