At this year’s Most Beautiful People photo shoot, someone said to me, “Thank you, this is such an honor. I feel seen, and this means so much.” That is what it is all about. When people feel seen, they feel understood, and it is a deep human need to have your true self seen. That is what I hope for everyone we profile in these pages. Each of us has our own different story and a different path to walk, and I hope everyone feels seen and appreciated for who you are. Beauty is much more than what is on the outside. On October 4, Williamson County’s longest-running black-tie affair returns for its 52nd year. This year, the Heritage Ball will move to the Bicentennial Park Pavilion located at 3rd Ave. and North Margin St. in downtown Franklin to provide additional space for the expanded event. Each year, approximately 800 guests attend the ball to support and celebrate the work of the Heritage Foundation of Williamson County, TN, and to raise funds for future preservation projects. As the Heritage Foundation’s largest annual fundraising event, guests are in for an elegant evening to remember with a cocktail hour, a seated dinner, live music and dancing, live and online auctions, and a Late Party. Humanities Tennessee is a nonprofit that fosters community and civility in Tennessee through public programs encouraging ideas, stories, history, arts, and culture. This year, the organization lost all its federal funding in April, causing uncertainty on whether the organization could continue, much less produce its beloved Southern Festival of Books. However, thanks to passionate donors, a fundraising drive with Ann Patchett and Parnassus, and a new partnership with Vanderbilt University, the festival and annual Authors in the Round dinner can continue uniting lovers of the written word. Attendees sampled 18 different Ketel One Vodka craft cocktails created by local Nashville bartenders. Small bites like burger sliders, grilled pita bites, and pimento cheese dip were also provided by Virgin Hotels Nashville. At the end of the evening, guests turned in their ballots and voted for their favorite craft cocktail.
