I can’t say that I’ve ever been one for resolutions—I usually dump them by February. I also can’t say I’ve ever wanted a year to end so badly! I can say 2020 was one hell of a wild ride, but a few good things came out of it for us. More of you read the magazine than ever, maybe because you’re home and needed something to distract (and inform and entertain) you. I am extremely grateful for our readers. I am even more grateful for the team at the magazine who never missed a deadline, worked tirelessly, and did great work in a difficult year. Interior designer Julie Couch upholstered her 1960s Krome-Kraft gold-tone chairs in a faux ostrich leather of the snowiest white. This upholstery is faux not simply because real ostrich leather is more typically found on an Hermès Kelly handbag priced at $40,000. This “luxury synthetic” (in designer parlance) is faux so that it readily resists stains while remaining glamorous. Such design solutions allow Couch to maintain an atmosphere of stealthy elegance in which to live with her husband, Mark, and children, daughter Marlowe, 2, and son Gus, 7. BOURBON APPLE PIE Ingredients 3 ounces of Walker’s Honeysuckle Sour Mix 3 ounces of Belle Meade Bourbon 1 Tbsp. of Nashville Jam Co.
