AFTER THREE failed attempts, on April 3, 1983, Sheila Snickersnacker finally succeeded in pulling off the world’s most complicated prank when she contrived to have a vanilla milkshake squirt out of the handlebars on her friend’s bicycle and into her friend’s astonished mouth. The preparations were extensive and to this day remain somewhat shrouded in mystery. Here is what we do know: late at night, Sheila emptied her friend’s bike tires of air, sterilized the insides of the tires, and refilled them with a combination of milk, cream, sugar, vanilla, and ice.
