When the Honda SCL500 was shown at EICMA last November, it had not yet been confirmed for Canada. Well, Honda has confirmed that its new Rebel-based Scrambler is coming here.
The SCL500 pays homage to the original Honda CL series of scramblers, which ranged in size from 50 to 450 cc. CL models were essentially modified versions of their CB counterparts, designed for street and light off-road riding. The biggest changes included installing a taller, wider handlebar, a high-mounted exhaust, and more aggressively treaded tires.
Much like those original CLs, the SCL500 is based on a Honda street model, the Rebel 500, using the same 471-cc parallel twin in an altered Rebel frame. It has mid-mounted foot pegs, a tall, wide handlebar, a high-mounted muffler, and wheel sizes are 19-…
