Rod Sims
Rod Sims AO has had a storied career. Serving as principal economic adviser to former Prime Minister Bob Hawke, Sims went on to chair the ACCC, the National Competition Council, NSW State Rail Authority and IPART, which regulates transport, energy and water prices. Aside from teaching at the Australian National University, he's now chair of The Superpower Institute, a renewable energy thinktank he co-founded with economist Ross Garnaut in 2023.
Rod Sims doesn't do small reform. As Bob Hawke's chief economic fixer, he oversaw some of Australia's most important reforms: dismantling tariffs, establishing the Hilmer competition review, and helping privatise Qantas, CSL, and CBA.
