The world's focus in November 2024 turned to the US and the presidential election. A lesser-known fact is that there were more than 60 elections in 2024 affecting half the planet's population. They ranged from India, where 1.5 billion people were impacted, to the tiny nation of Tuvalu, with just over 11,000 people.
Elections were also held in the European Union, Indonesia, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, El Salvador, Finland, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Senegal, Russia, Mexico, Iran, UK, South Africa, South Korea, Algeria and Venezuela.
