They call it ‘the greatest outdoor show on Earth’, and when you visit the annual Calgary Stampede, you realise why. Almost 1.5-million people visited this year, over the course of ten days, taking in the fairground, parades, music concerts, stage shows, agricultural shows, indigenous Canadian culture, canine sport, horse racing, motocross and, of course, the rodeo sport. The event first started all the way back in 1912 and, since then, it has established itself as arguably the world’s most important celebration of cowboy and western culture.
