WHAT IS A FOOD INTOLERANCE?
Put simply, an intolerance means you have difficulty digesting certain foods, or ingredients within food products. Although not usually serious, it can make you feel unwell and affect your day-today life if not managed properly. Symptoms usually start a few hours after eating the food or ingredient you are intolerant to, and include diarrhoea, bloating and tummy pain. A food intolerance is different to a food allergy. An allergy is when your body reacts to certain foods and can cause symptoms like feeling dizzy or lightheaded, itching, coughing, wheezing, breathlessness, or swelling of the lips, face and eyes.
