I often joke that my garden and my kids thrive on benign neglect. As an entrepreneur and physician, time is a scarce luxury, but cultivating mindfulness allowed us to optimize each moment.

Mindfulness, or fully attending to the present moment, cannot create more time. Rather, it exponentially magnifies the quality of that time. Medically, we know that routinely engaging in mindfulness practice reduces stress, cortisol and inflammation, reduces perception of pain, aids weight loss, and improves sleep and energyâall without negative side effects. Mindful people are also more engaged, compassionate, and resilient.
