We’d love to hear from you re this matter. We are debating table manners because of our Seasonal Picks feature on asparagus! Some time ago, at a dinner, I ate my asparagus with my knife and fork. And to my distress, I discovered “Good heavens!” was the incredulous response to my ignorance! Now normally I am a stickler for table manners. However, this time I transgressed a very serious rule held by the English and other European countries. Unless full of runny sauce, one must eat one’s asparagus with one’s fingers! I am debated on this but, if you check, you will find it to be accurate.
And to Italian table manners, too. You will rarely, if ever, find a spoon accompanying your fork to eat pasta at…
