Becoming a municipal councillor in your 30s is impressive, but Éléonore Laloux from Arras in France has created history as the country’s first appointed official with Down syndrome. The move, says Mayor Frédéric Leturque, is far from token. “Éléonore has helped the entire town progress in terms of how we see disability,” he notes of Laloux, who is also a board member for a not-for-profit supporting others with Down syndrome and their families.
