I think we’ve never looked forward to the year ending as much as this one. None of us could have predicted the devastation Covid would leave in its wake, generating high levels of economic, political and social uncertainty. The pandemic has forced us into an endless series of lockdowns, working from home, constant sanitising, elbow-bump greetings, Zoom meetings, hotel quarantines. At printing time, Malaysia’s seeing its third wave, with the number of cases rising at such an exponential rate. If the numbers don’t show signs of abating, most likely the usual year-end festivities would be a little quiet this time around.
