Hello, 2020! As always, a new year signals new beginnings. I like to think of it as a clean slate to start over, so whatever year you may have had before, it’s a chance to leave it all behind and look forward. Over at the Tatler office, we have something exciting brewing that will make you sit up and take notice, so stay tuned for the big reveal, happening soon. We are only too glad to have our first issue graced by the one and only Dato’ Sri Siti Nurhaliza. Dear to many Malaysians, her concerts continue to be sold out (she’s now busy preparing for her world tour) and her cosmetics brand is doing splendidly. Lest you think that her celebrity appeal helps to boost sales, she has a…
Andrea Kee A former fashion editor turned fashion stylist, she picks trendy and stylishly modest pieces for our cover star in The Essence of Siti What are you looking forward to the most this year? More travelling! Give us an expert styling tip. It doesn’t take an expert, but most off-the-rack clothes don’t necessarily fit us perfectly without alteration. To aid this philanthropic cause, the fundraiser held during the gala dinner had sold seven Lazare auctioned pieces, with 10 per cent of the total sales contributed to Make-A-Wish-Malaysia. And in conjunction with their CSR campaign, DeGem had launched the Wishing Hope Diamond Pendant (pictured above), which…

Why did you decide to venture into filmmaking? When I was younger, I always wanted to be a writer. Then I went to further my studies at Multimedia University and did advertising, because I was inspired by the late film director Yasmin Ahmad, who also started out doing advertisements. I saw filmmaking as a progression from my interest in storytelling. What was the project that led you to the bronze medal win at the Cannes Lion Awards 2019? It was a series of public service announcement videos shot using an iPhone, and directed by me and two other directors, Syed Madnuh and Emir Ezwan. The creative agency Leo Burnett Malaysia wanted to do a campaign on anti-bullying, and so we filmed videos of various bullying incidents that ended with a…
