Partnered with Marianne Fons, Liz Porter cofounded Fons & Porter in the late 1970s as a way to support her family with a skill she knew she had: making quilts, teaching quilts, and spreading a love of quilts.
Liz and Marianne built more than a business; they created a legacy, which is demanding work, to say the least.
After they sold the business in 2006, Liz says, “I basically quit quilting for about a year.”
It was the social aspect that rekindled Liz’s joy in quilting. Once she’d settled into her new home in Texas, Liz invited several friends over for supper, followed by sewing. It became a Wednesday night tradition.
