“I remember barrelling down a steep hill, on a gravel road, Harry Flatters. There was a major caution for a dip at the bottom of this hill but I kept my right foot flat. That little Renault hit the dip, became completely airborne, then touched down, carrying on regardless. It was always solid, too, and no matter if you drove it flat out or with a feather-foot, it always drank just about the same amount of petrol, which was less than five litres/100km.”
