Mud, rocks, sand, steep inclines and declines, and axle twisters. And more mud.
That’s the essence of the 4x4 track at Base 4 near Hennops, which is owned by the Four Wheel Drive Club of Southerm Africa.
The 14ha property is a main hub for the club’s operations, and includes a large and modern clubhouse with swimming pool, a lapa, camping grounds with rustic amenities (including hot and cold water), picnic facilities and a children’s play area.
The club was started in 1972, and nowadays incorporates 10 branches across southern Africa, with representation in SA, Botswana and Swaziland. The 43-year-old club has more than 1600 members.
