Pernella was born in a small town in Southern California, and is the youngest of ten children—five boys and five girls. Her loving parents were wise and progressive, teaching everything from music, social graces, Biblical principles, Socrates, to Emily Post—her father served in the Air Force, traveling around the world, and yet was extremely present in the home attending every football game, play, movie night, etc. and her mother dualed as a stay-at-home mom and emergency room nurse.
