DEFENDER tuner, Twisted Automotive, has launched two new powertrains. The T-V8 is based around General Motors’ supercharged 6.7-litre Chevrolet LT1 small block V8 and is claimed to be the fastest Defender ever to leave Twisted’s factory, while the T-VS is a 2.3-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine that is compliant with London’s Ultra Low Emissions Zone (ULEZ) regulations. Developed in conjunction with Twisted’s US engineering team over an 18-month period, the T-V8 produces more then 450bhp, as well as 500-lb ft of torque. Extensive modifications were carried out to the GM ‘crate’ engine with more than half the components re-engineered by, or for, Twisted. Bespoke parts include the engine’s cooling pack, fluids pipework, complete fuel system, adaptors and mounting plates. Also new are the interior console, dash and myriad mounting brackets,…

HERITAGE Classic Car Insurance is on a mission to celebrate the stories behind its customers and their classics. In a new series of interview-led stories, drawings and videos, the insurer has delved into the world of its customers’ classics to answer the question: what does owning a classic car truly mean? In 2021, Heritage asked customers from far and wide to come forward with their classics, photos and stories. They then interviewed 16 selected owners, and put together their stories in a new blog series titled The Customer Stories Project. To create bespoke artwork to accompany the project, Heritage brought contemporary artist Ian Cook on board. Cook’s charming drawing style captured the beauty of each owners’ classic car in live-streamed sessions on Facebook and Instagram, allowing Heritage followers to watch…

Mark Higgins and co-driver Claire Williams won the North Wales leg of the 2022 Defender Bowler Challenge in Dolgellau in a time of 55 minutes and 12 seconds, one minute and 41 seconds ahead of their nearest rival. The duo drove a Bowler Defender 90, with unique livery inspired by 60 years of James Bond films and its lasting partnership with Land Rover, as well as a host of performance and competition upgrades by the team at Bowler. Higgins has been at the wheel in four James Bond films – Quantum of Solace, Skyfall, Spectre and No Time to Die. SHROPSHIRE’S business community is pulling together to help get vital supplies to the frontline in Ukraine, thanks to local business owner Joe Kwaterski. Joe has come up with a novel idea to raise funds by auctioning his pride and joy – Gertie, a 1971 Series IIA. Having been completely restored, with full photographic documentation of the process, Jaguar Land Rover dealership Hatfields prepared and freshly MoT’d the classic vehicle for Joe where it then took pride of place on display at the Shrewsbury-based dealership until it was sold. Gertie went up for auction on specialist website Collecting Cars, which even donated its fees to boost the fundraising total, which amounted to £27,250. Jaguar Land Rover announces 2030 sustainability targets JLR has committed to reducing greenhouse gas emissions across its operations by 46 per cent by 2030, as well as cut average vehicle emissions across its value chains by 54 per cent, including a 60 per cent reduction throughout the use phase of its vehicles. The goals, which are approved by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), confirm the company’s pathway to a 1.5°C emissions reduction in line with the Paris Agreement on climate change.
