To celebrate the arrival of the new Discovery the Discovery Owners Club is offering free membership for 12 months to the first ten new owners to join. There are currently 900 members and that number is growing all the time, with around 30 new recruits signing up every month. The club produces a magazine six times a year, which is packed full of useful information, classifieds and, of course, Discovery-related articles, they have an active forum and many of the local sections meet each month. In light of International Women’s Day, Jaguar Land Rover joined forces with Getty Images in a project to change the perceptions on women in science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) careers. The number of people searching online for images of women in STEM careers has increased by 526 per cent over the past year, yet results are often outdated and don’t reflect today’s varied roles. This partnership aims to change that. Pictures released by the car manufacturer and stock photo agency, show women in a variety of STEM roles from aerodynamics to cyber and audio engineering. They are intended to encourage more women to apply for these jobs in the modern workplace. JLR BEGINS NEW DESIGN AND ENGINEERING CENTRE Jaguar LaND rover is beginning construction work on a £200 million redevelopment of its design and engineering centre at gaydon in Warwickshire. The raNge rover which george Michael crashed into a branch of snappy snaps went up for sale on eBay in february. The 2002 V8 L322 range rover attracted 154 bids and went for £65,900, five thousand more than it would have cost when new before options and almost £60,000 more than a car of this age usually sells for. The ad states it had three owners from new, the first believed to be george Michael’s dad. The current owner claimed it had been kept in storage since he bought it from Michael’s highgate home two years ago. With less than 80,000 miles on the clock, it was described as being in “good [but] used condition”, with a few scratches believed to have been left from the snappy snaps incident.…
