Mr. Khan looked after Suleiman every day.

Wash-wash.
Polish-polish.
After the scrub, wash, and polish, Suleiman longed to go for a spin. But Mr. Khan never, ever drove him anywhere. Not even to the post office.
“You’re special,” said Mr. Khan. “I don’t want you to get dirty and tired.”
Suleiman was tired of being parked. He was tired of being clean and shiny.
So one day, he took off on his own.

Suleiman went past the post office van, the window-cleaner man, the school bus, and the racing fire truck.

He honked as he sped through the countryside.

Ducks in the way.

Suleiman swerved off the road.

Suleiman found his way back to the motorway.
