As spring returns to the Alps and the snow begins to melt, Valsesia bursts into green, drawing paddlers from around the world to Piedmont's pristine creeks and world-class whitewater. On May 24th, around 40 paddlers met in Mollia, at the take-out of the “Alpin Sprint,” one of the best continuous Class IV home runs in the Alps, to participate in the team race event. Participants from Italy, France, Spain, South America, the U.S., the U.K., and beyond formed 12 teams and took on a 13-minute race to qualify for the finals. The top five teams earned the chance to race the “pre-Alpin” rapid, a solid Class IV+ with technical moves and sticky holes, to battle for the podium.
