To mark the 100th Anniversary of Ford Australia, Australia Post has released a limited-edition stamp set that highlights significant Australian-made Fords from the past century. Released on the eve of Father’s Day, the set of four stamps have a face value of $1.70 each. Designed by Sharon Rodziewicz of the Australia Post Design Studio, the stamps feature a ‘Geelong’ Model T, XP Falcon 2-door, XA Falcon GT hardtop and FG-X Falcon XR8 sedan. After an impressive 18 years, production of Nissan’s R35 GT-R has ended, with the Tochigi plant north of Tokyo building the last example in late August. A T-Spec variant finished in Midnight Purple, the final R35 was allocated to a customer in Japan. The Japanese market has accounted for the majority (37 per cent) of R35 production, which at around 48,000 units in total, has been higher than any previous GT-R generation. BWT Alpine Formula One Team has locked in their lead driver for the long term, with Pierre Gasly signing a new contract with the French team. Gasly’s existing contract already had him tied to Alpine to 2026 inclusive, but the extension will see the 29-year-old Frenchman continue with the squad based at Enstone in the UK until the end of the 2028 FIA Formula 1 season. A Eurocup Formula Renault champion in 2013 and GP2 Series champion in 2016, Gasly served as a reserve/test driver for Red Bull Racing and Scuderia Toro Rosso in 2015-2017. In August, Mansour Ojjeh’s 20-car collection was sold, made up entirely of McLaren road cars. Ojjeh, a Saudi-born, US-educated French citizen who passed away in 2021, was CEO of TAG and sponsored the Williams F1 team for a period before buying a stake in the McLaren Group and McLaren’s F1 team in 1984.
