Toyota Australia has axed the GR Supra from their local range. Final orders were taken in August, ahead of the end of production for the famous sports car’s fifth-generation, which is expected by mid-2026. A sixth generation Supra is expected, but not confirmed, for release in 2027. As Oscar Piastri edges closer to becoming Australia’s first Formula 1 World Drivers’ Champion since Alan Jones in 1980, it’s been announced that the Melbourne-born driver will be honoured at his home circuit. A new grandstand at the Albert Park Grand Prix Circuit will be named after the 24-year-old, joining others named after Aussie drivers, like Jones, Jack Brabham, Daniel Ricciardo, Mark Webber and Arthur Waite. The Piastri Grandstand will be located on the main straight, opposite pit lane. The Fangio Grandstand that’s already in this space will remain, with the existing structure expanding and splitting into two – Piastri and Fangio. Following the presentation of a Corvette EV concept in March, General Motors released a second Corvette concept in late July. This one is also an EV, coming from GM’s Advanced Design studio in Pasadena, whereas the first concept was the product of GM’s new Advanced Design studio in the UK. GM plan to release a third Corvette concept study from a third studio later this year. Labelled as the ‘California Corvette’ this second concept gives America’s sports car a (very) futuristic twist, while also reflecting Corvette DNA and what GM call their “deep roots in the SoCal design community”. The crew behind the annual Geelong Revival Motoring Festival are expanding the concept to Melbourne, with the first ‘Sandown Revival Motoring Festival’ to be held on 17-18 January, 2026. Featuring many of the same elements that have made the Geelong Revival so popular, like the on-track racing, car and motorcycle show, club displays, vintage fashion awards, trade stands and entertainment, the Sandown Revival will also expand the concept. As the event is being held at Sandown Raceway, it means laps can be part of the programme, too.
