The 2025 Pro Burnout Series calendar is locked in, with 19 tyre-frying events scheduled for Australia and New Zealand. The calendar includes rounds at the Gazzanats, Tropical Meltdown, Rockynats, Steel City Nats, Red Centrenats and Powercruise, as well as Chrome NZ and Autofest. TWR SUPERCAT DEBUTS

Following its reveal in virtual form earlier in 2024, the TWR ‘Supercat’ recently made its public debut. The product of the reborn TWR (Tom Walkinshaw Racing) in the UK, the Supercat is based on Jaguar’s XJS and has been re-engineered by a team that boasts experience in Ferrari, McLaren, Williams and Renault F1 teams. TWR have started taking customer commissions for the Supercat, with the first cars to be completed by mid-2025. Production will be limited to 88 units. While the original TWR was created by Tom Walkinshaw in 1975 to design and build race cars, the new TWR was co-founded by Fergus Walkinshaw (Tom’s son from his first marriage – Ryan Walkinshaw is a half-brother) in 2023, with a focus on engineering projects for the road and racetrack. FIRST DETAILS OF PERTH STREET CIRCUIT REVEALED

Western Australia’s Labor Premier, the Hon. Roger Cook, has unveiled the initial plans for a street circuit and entertainment precinct at Perth’s Burswood Park that is expected to become the venue for Supercars in WA from 2027. According to Cook, this new street circuit won’t be at the expense of Wanneroo Raceway, which he describes as the state’s premier racetrack and the heart and soul of motor racing in WA. Regular race meets will still be held at Wanneroo, with the Perth Street Circuit reserved for “large, marquee events” like Supercars. In addition to the street circuit, the $217.5 million precinct will include a function centre and 20,000-capacity outdoor music amphitheatre (similar to the Sidney Myer Music Bowl in Melbourne) as part of the infrastructure. TOYOTA ANNOUNCES GR SUPRA ‘TRACK EDITION’

With the fifth-generation Toyota Supra to end production later this year, Toyota Australia has revealed a farewell model for the local market in the form of the ‘GR Supra Track Edition’. Due for release midway through this year, the Australian model will not receive an engine upgrade like the ‘A90 Final Edition’ that some other markets are getting. Humid and showery conditions prevailed throughout the opening day of Island Magic on 23-24 November, but dark clouds of another type impacted the meeting when a competitor passed away. Andrew Rhodes-Anderson, a driver in Improved Production, had what’s believed to be a medical incident on the penultimate lap of that category’s opening race, coming to a stop without crashing. Proceedings were halted as emergency crews attended to Rhodes-Anderson, but he couldn’t be revived. Following confirmation of the death, the rest of the day’s programme, including the first Historic Touring race, was cancelled as a mark of respect.
