Details for the 2022 version of Historic Winton, Australia’s longest-running and most popular all-historic motorsport spectacle, have been announced, with this year’s event scheduled for 28-29 May. Presented by the Austin 7 Club in association with the Historic Motorcycle Racing Association of Victoria, Historic Winton is held at Winton Motor Raceway, near Benalla in country Victoria. Across the two days, there will be more than 40 races for historic cars, motorcycles and sidecars across several categories, including Group J & K, Groups M & O, Group Lb Sports and Racing, Groups Q & R Sports and Racing, Formula Ford, Group N, Group S and Regularity, with similar diversity for the motorcycle classes. Jaguar has unveiled a new sports car concept for the racing game Gran Turismo in the form of the ‘Jaguar Vision Gran Turismo Roadster’. The third such virtual vehicle designed by Jaguar for the popular video game, the Vision GT Roadster joins the Vision GT Coupe from 2019 and Vision GT SV endurance racer that was unveiled in late 2020. To mark the occasion, and the release of Gran Turismo 7 in March, Jaguar’s design team released new imagery of all three cars, with bespoke specification and livery for each. A unique 1922 Delage special was the top-selling automobile at Shannons Summer Online Auction; part of $15.2 million achieved at the 8-day auction that concluded on 1 March. As has become the norm with these auctions, black and white heritage number plates delivered some outstanding results and accounted for $9 million of the auction’s total sales. The 1922 Delage that topped the automobile consignments was a one-off vehicle, originally built by the proprietor of the Delage Garage in Richmond, Victoria, for his personal use. The LJ Torana GTR XU-1 previously featured with JUST CARS when it surfaced in the UK this past January has sold at auction through Classic Car Auctions. When we first reported on this car, not much of its history or provenance was known, but since then, more information has come to light. A genuine GTR XU-1, finished in Strike Me Pink and with the correct JP prefix for the 3.3-litre six-cylinder engine, the car is believed to be one of the first 200 XU-1s built in the LJ Series and was sold new in suburban Sydney in April, 1972.
