Ford Australia are upping the ante on local Mustang offerings, with a factory supercharged ‘R-SPEC’ version of the GT to be released next year. The first Mustang with a supercharger to be sold through Ford dealerships, the R-SPEC is the result of a collaboration between Ford and Herrod Performance, who already offer superchargers, turbochargers and chip tunes as aftermarket upgrades for the Australiandelivered Mustang. Herrod will serve as a second-stage manufacturer for the R-SPEC, with the vehicles produced under this arrangement backed by a 5-year/unlimited km warranty. A week after winning this year’s Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000, DJR Team Penske were slugged with several penalties for breaches of FIA rules in the race. In the closing stages of the 13 October enduro, DJR Team Penske’s Fabian Coulthard slowed his car – on team orders, citing debris on the track - while the field were under safety car conditions. This created a large gap between him and the cars ahead, which included his team mate and eventual race winner Scott McLaughlin. That gap was alleged by some to have given McLaughlin an advantage in the pit stops that followed, and while it couldn’t be proved that it resulted in McLaughlin’s first-ever Bathurst victory, the actions of both Coulthard and DJR Team Penske were considered unsportsmanlike and in breach…

After earlier revealing their DB4 GT Zagato Continuation model, Aston Martin have now unveiled its modern counterpart in the two-piece DBZ Centenary Collection - the DBS GT Zagato. Presented at the Audrain’s Newport Concours in the US, the DBS GT Zagato is based on the DBS Superleggera and powered by that model’s 5.2-litre twinturbo V12 engine. But the GT Zagato features bespoke bodywork, a unique paint colour and premium exterior finishes, including gold badging, as well as bespoke interior trim. The limited-edition DBS also employs several high-tech manufacturing processes, including the world’s first automotive application of configurable carbon and metal 3D-printed finishes. Bolwell, Australia’s best-known independent sports car manufacturer, may have been quiet of late, but they certainly haven’t been inactive. Since the Bolwell Mk X, aka Nagari 300, was unveiled in 2008, there’s been little in the way of news - or new product – from the brand. That all changed in October, with the all-new ‘Nagari 500’ making its debut at the Motorclassica Concours d’Elegance and Classic Motor Show. Marking 50 years since the original Nagari was released, the new Nagari 500 will go into production in 2020. After making the switch from Holden to Nissan for 2013 during Supercars’ ‘Car of the Future’ multi-platform expansion period and rebranding themselves Nissan Motorsport, Kelly Racing will move to a new platform again in 2020. After Nissan withdrew from Supercars at the end of the 2018 season, Kelly Racing continued to run the Nissan Altima this year while they looked for a replacement. In October, that replacement was announced: Kelly Racing confirming they will switch to the Ford Mustang for 2020. Motorclassica, the Australian International Concours d’Elegance and Classic Motor Show, celebrated its 10th Anniversary in 2019, with this year’s special show playing host to an equally special display of motoring history and automotive excellence. After 23 years in Supercars, Garry Rogers Motorsport (GRM) will step away from the championship at the end of this year’s Virgin Australia Supercars series. Team boss Garry Rogers made the announcement on 18 October, the same day that Racing Entitlement Contracts for the 2020 season expired. Rogers’s hand was forced by team sponsor Boost Mobile, who had signed a two-year deal with GRM for 2019-20, but announced they’d leave the series unless a control front upright was introduced to bring parity to the grid. A control chassis, gearbox and tyres already apply to Supercars, with a control damper expected to be introduced in 2020. First held in 2012, the Geelong Revival Motoring Festival has become a favourite with fans of both two and four wheels. The event has grown each year since that debut, with new features and fanfriendly initiatives added that have drawn hundreds of thousands of spectators. The Geelong Revival is a reestablishment of the Geelong Speed Trials – quarter-mile sprints that were first held on Ritchie Boulevard (a public road on Geelong’s waterfront) in 1956.
