Mossgreen’s ‘Collectors’ Motorcycles and Automobilia’ auction, held in Melbourne on 19 June, was headlined by cars from the estate of John Calvert, with post-War British thoroughbreds proving to be the stars of the sale. Chevy’s post-War pickups seem to be more popular than ever before, particularly those from the ‘Advance-Design’ era that stretched from 1947 to early 1955. Ahead of its official debut at the Paris International Motor Show in October, Ferrari has presented the first pictures of an open-top version of their LaFerrari. Provisionally dubbed the ‘Aperta’, the upcoming release is part of a new, limited-edition special series designed to appeal to those that love ‘al fresco’ driving. What’s been described as “significant and extensive” modifications have been made to the LaFerrari chassis to ensure the convertible has the same rigidity and beam stiffness as the coupe version. Furthermore, the convertible’s aerodynamics have been adjusted to ensure the same drag coefficient as the fixed-roof LaFerrari.
