After setting the new record of $1.03 million for an Australian-made car sold at auction, Lloyd’s Auctions are predicting they may exceed that mark with an ex-Peter Brock race car at a special auction this October. The car in question is Brock’s ‘Big Banger’ VK Commodore Group C racer in which he won the 1984 Sandown, Bathurst and Surfers Paradise enduros. Queensland Police say they chose the Stinger after an extensive test programme, with the first unit officially going on duty with the state’s ‘Road Policing Command’ this July. “This is a very important day for us,” Commissioner Ian Stewart said. “We needed a special product to do a job for us, and that is what we have here. One of three special edition models released in August, Nissan’s ‘N-Sport’ version of the 370Z adds a distinctive cosmetic package to the sports coupe. “The Nissan N-SPORT series has been popular with buyers in the past, so we have listened to a market that wants more and offered N-Sport editions on a wider range of Nissan nameplates,” said Nissan Australia managing director, Stephen Lester. As their 70th Anniversary celebrations roll on, Porsche has unveiled a speedster version of the current- (ie. 991.2) generation 911. The concept was unveiled on 8 June, marking 70 years to the day since the first Porsche-badged car – a 356 roadster – received its “operating permit” for road use in Austria back in 1948. Described by Porsche as a road-ready design study, the Speedster concept has been predicted to reach production. Should it do so, Porsche say it’ll be the ninth model to officially wear the ‘Speedster’ badge.
