In May last year, we gathered a group of wonderful women – photographers and photography enthusiasts – and offered them five days full of workshops dedicated to photography, storytelling etc. Surrounded by the lush castle garden and the historical walls, we looked for inspiration and challenged our creativity in an atmosphere full of peace and beauty. On one of these magical days, we hosted a flower party. Jo-Nad, who is very talented, taught us how to make beautiful bouquets. Underneath the big, shady trees we created the most amazing flower arrangements, and afterwards, we laid a breath-taking table and celebrated the day dressed in airy, floral dresses. Sofia and Mikael live in this house along with their two daughters, Hilma and Tindra. Both of them have a very strong bond to this particular area because they grew up in Värnamo and they’ve always dreamed of having a home close to nature. In 1998, Mikael found this house through a real estate agent, and two years later, Sofia moved in. Back then, the house was a small "torp", but after many years of renovating and extending the building, it has turned into a spacious home with plenty of room for the family and their guests. When the smell of lilacs spreads throughout the garden, all I want to do is to spend as much time as possible outdoors and enjoy that this lush plant is blossoming. It really inspires me. I know that I’ve got to enjoy the blossoms as much as possible because they don’t last long. Once I notice the fresh blossoms, I place my garden furniture underneath the bush so that I can enjoy my lilacs as much as possible. During this time of the year, I make lots of bouquets with lilacs, either placing single stems in a vase or adding other wild flowers. They’re just so lush, aromatic and beautiful – and even edible! Anne and Peter have been living here for almost three decades, but the history of the house is even longer. Constructed back in 1934, the house has been lovingly renovated throughout the years, and the couple has preserved the soul and the history of the place, at the same time adding their own personal touch. Anne’s interest in interior design and recycling was passed on to her from her grandma, and a lot of the furniture and other details in the home bear witness to Anne’s passion for adding new life to old things.
