Above an old sofa, covered with yellow silk, is an entire wall full of paintings featuring Christmas cookies which have been painted on old letters from Italy and Austria. Imagine that: these letters were written, folded, sealed and delivered by courier some 150 years ago. The wall features more than 100 small pieces of art from Sabine’s collection, and every year, she adds more. This summer cottage in Denmark belongs to Øjvind and Laila Nordstrand Berg, and the recently renovated bedroom has been furnished with an elegant four-poster bed and a bathtub with lion paw feet. Ramona has a room that she has furnished for her grandchild, Sophie. Sophie had always wanted to sleep in a true princess room at her grandmother’s, and Ramona felt like making this wish come true. She moved her own office and furnished this room for Sophie. The project took a couple of weeks. Sophie didn’t understand why the door to the office was locked when she came to visit. SOUP 1 onion3 cloves of garlic1 tsp oil1 lb (500 g) potatoes7 oz (200 g) broccoli7 oz (200 g) edamame beans2 stock cubes3.5 oz (100 g) nuts2 tbsp soy3.4 cups (8 dl) water1 handful of basil3 fl oz (1 dl) heavy cream Coarsely dice all the vegetables. Pour oil into a pot and start by frying garlic and onion. Then add the rest of the vegetables, except for the edamame beans. Let everything fry for approx. 2 minutes. Here in cold Norway, winter means lots of time spent indoors, and for this reason, it’s important to create a cozy home. Andreas Häner lives in the heart of Basel in Switzerland in a unique home that used to be a cinema. Constructed in 1929 in art déco style, the building was renovated towards the end of the 1970s and was home to a cinema. Andreas took over the place in 2011, but his journey towards this spectacular home started much earlier. He grew up close to the Bernina Alps, and as a child, he was fascinated by the French aristocracy from the 1700s. The warm colors are combined with a wonderful aromatic mixture of corn, potatoes, ginger, lemon, thyme and cumin. 3.5 oz (100 g) sweetcorn5.2 oz (150 g) potatoes½ apple1 tbsp lemon juice1 tbsp olive oil1 tsp vegetable broth1 tsp dried thyme1 tsp cumin0.4 inch (1 cm) fresh ginger Peel the potatoes and the ginger, and finely dice them.
