Eva’s and Stefan’s house is an old Swedish Västerbotten farm which was constructed in the 1840s. When they bought the place, they decided to keep most of the kitchen elements but they changed the color from white to light gray. They also built a kitchen island and one more tall cabinet, using the same doors, to gain more storage space. The couple likes open shelving units where the beautiful chinaware can be displayed instead of hiding it inside the cabinets. They bought the fine, old shelf with small drawers at a low price at a market. It looks very neat and it adds the rustic impression that the couple enjoys so much. When it comes to interior design, Evelina and Peter have a shared interest in transformation and renewal, mainly using recycling treasures and antiques. Much of their furniture and many other items are from old family members. The couple likes the things to have a story, a soul and to carry memories of former times. Placing a vase on the table which used to belong to Peter’s grandmother, Mathilda, or drinking juice from the same glass that Evelina used as a child when visiting her grandmother, Frida, is a special feeling. Finely mash the banana using a fork. Finely chop almonds and chocolate using a knife. Pour all the ingredients into a big bowl and knead them to create a nice dough. In Denmark, we’re enjoying the early summer – an enchanting time of the year when everything is blossoming. Here at Kærby Mølle, each day we wake up to the wonderful sound of bird songs and the scent of freshness. Rick and Kate are living their shared dream here at Hunter Moon Homestead. ANNIVERSARY 15 YEARS Flowers from the surrounding fields where the farmers would always sew summer flowers for everyone to pick. Ole, our handy man, and Michael, our carpenter, made these kitchen elements out of recycled wood and the tabletops out of planed off flooring planks. Their creations turned into a beautiful, rustic kitchen which we used for several photo shootings for the magazine and for product photos. Her recently published book with the same name is a wonderful tour of some relaxed, elegant and rustic English country houses that she has renovated. The beautiful months of May and June have arrived at our doorstep and everything is waking up. We greet yet another wonderful, Swedish summer! Our old summer cottage in Sweden was built in 1912 and is called "Torp Ekekullen". It’s surrounded by forest and lakes in the beautiful area of Dalsland. We found this place on the Internet back in 2021 and we’ve been renovated it ever since. Now we’ve added our personal touch to the small house and we can finally start enjoying every season here. Although Linn had always been furnishing, painting and wallpapering in order to add a personal touch to her home, she had never taken on a renovation project such as this house. This is an old house from 1910 measuring 1,636 ft2 (152 m2) that had been renovated in the 70s and 80s in a typical Swedish 70s style. A big part of the house has just been renovated again and Linn has tried to add a bit of the original, luxurious style, combined with rustic country style elements. Adding wallpaper to many of the rooms has created a significant effect. Such wallpaper was often used at that time and it’s become trendy again. When Ramona and her husband bought this house, she was quite sad about the small kitchen because she loves cooking and baking. Unfortunately, it wasn’t possible to extend the room because all the walls are bearing walls. No matter what she wanted to do in the kitchen, she never had enough space. Once day, she came up with a good idea. Next to the kitchen was a room that could be used as an extra kitchen. Tine Gertsen, our magazine photographer, and her husband, Tommy, live in the Danish town of Kerteminde, and during the past few years, they’ve been renovating their beautiful, old villa from top to bottom. Tommy is a carpenter and Tine runs a webshop and a store selling French antiques – unless she’s traveling the country to take pictures for our magazine. Their kitchen is from the store HTH. Tine tells us that they were looking for something simple and that she had always dreamed of having a big kitchen island. That’s what they wanted to integrate into their new kitchen. Camilla, her husband, Thomas, and the couple’s children, Hannes and Maja, have been living in the Eastern part of Värmland, once the site of an old bergsman-farm, for 24 years. They also share this home with some sheep, dogs, cats, chickens and rabbits. When they bought the house, there was no running water, sewage system or central heating. They only had two small rooms and a kitchen, and they had to make do with a heating stove and an outdoor toilet. Despite such primitive conditions, it was a charming way of life. From the very beginning of our relationship, Rick and I dreamed of living on a farm. It took us 40 years to make that dream come true. In 2018, we moved from Seattle to North Idaho and bought a 23 hectares farm from 1902. Although the place had been neglected, this was where we wanted to live our dream. Within three years, the house has been almost completed renovated, a grain barn has been turned into an artist’s studio/classroom, the greenhouse is in use again, the gardens are bursting with produce, and three small huts and two tents with a view of the pond are waiting for the next visitors. Ever since we started making the magazine, I’ve been dreaming of organizing some events that would allow you to step into a "living magazine". About a year ago, we introduced the first events and what a year it has been! By now, we’ve hosted several creative workshops and courses on photography, styling and cooking. We’ve hosted a Christmas market and a "meet the makers" summer market, and not least the BålGastro. We’re adding new events all the time. To us, the most important thing is to let our heart and soul be part of those events, so we do our very best and we look forward to every single happening.
