We had almost no clue what we were doing, but we just did it. Here at Ramona’s, we’ve been invited inside to visit a very beautiful and romantic bedroom. Everything is kept in shades of white and rose, and the room is full of marvelous antiques. Ramona finds such treasures at flea markets, including old bride’s boots, dressmaker’s dummies from France and umbrellas from Belgium. Just like many other pieces of furniture in this home, the dresser has been renovated. As they couldn’t find a suitable bed, they built one themselves. Old shutters behind the bed make up a headboard. Ramona also loves old bedding with nice, good-quality bobbin lace, and she keeps adding more. Even though the room certainly isn’t very big, it needs a bit of new energy now and again. That’s how I often feel about my bedroom. This time, I was inspired by a picture on Pinterest showing a wall divided by a fillet to create two parts with two different colors. That same evening, the wall was painted with two different colors from Vintage Paint, and the next day, Lars bought some thin, fine oak wood fillets which he cut to the right length and glued onto the wall. A couple of new pictures and some new textiles from the Femme Facon winter collection pepped up the bedroom and added new life. Rye bread chips 4 very thin slices of rye bread3 tbsp olive oil1 tsp flake salt Cut the rye bread slices into a triangular shape and place them on a baking tray. Brush oil onto the bread, sprinkle salt on top and bake the slices in the oven at 347°F (175°C) (fan-assisted oven) for 10-15 minutes until they’re nice and crisp. Esmeralda has been living in Berkel en Rodenrijs in Holland along with her husband Gaston and the daughter Germaine for 11 years. They fell in love with a recently built, free-standing "box". The advantage of such a house is that it offers lots of space, everything is simple and it’s easy to furnish. Ramona calls snowdrops "the winter princess" and I’ll definitely start calling them that too. They’re just so wonderful. They grow quite plentiful in my garden and I enjoy them so much. I just can’t help digging some of them up and placing them in pots. They look so cute, however long they last. They tend to grow quite fast and develop long stems. Bring them in when they’ve just started to peek out of the soil because then you can enjoy them the longest. Ramona has planted some in red clay pots and in a nice, old tureen. If you turn on the camera on your cell phone and place it above the QR code below, you can watch a short video on how to wax the roses and make the decoration. When making your waxed flowers, you can either buy small pieces of wax or use candle stubs. Pour water into a pot and bring it to the boil. Place the wax in the boiling water to make it melt. Remove the pot from the heat, dip your roses into the water and place them somewhere suitable to dry one by one. It might be a good idea to dip the flowers twice. It all began when Ger-Jan de Gilde moved to the countryside after having spent many years in Amsterdam working as a fashion designer. Suddenly, he was surrounded by light, space and air. Nature became an important source of inspiration to him and he started taking pictures. He published several books featuring his unique and artistic pictures of nature. Once iPad and iPencil had been introduced, drawing nature on a tablet became a real option. Suddenly, a simple iPencil scribble would look like a watercolor brushstroke or a line made with a wax pencil. This big, old house from the end of the 1800s is located in Holland and this is where Fredriek and her family have furnished their bedrooms in the attic below the marvelous, old, exposed beams. These features add a special charm to the rooms – particularly when combined with the white-painted wooden flooring. Everything has been painted white in all the rooms, including ceilings, walls, floors, door frames and doors. Natural materials in subdued, warm colors, such as various wood species and natural textiles such as linen and cotton, add a cozy feel and warmth to the rooms. The wooden ceiling and the dark color on the walls add a true cave atmosphere to the corner. Even if you’re not living in an old mill, you can still create a similar cozy feel by painting the walls in deep, warm color shades. Mathilde and Christian live in the mill house, which is what we call the small house that belongs to the mill of Kærby Mølle. This is where people used to mill flour. The most common grape hyacinths are blue but you might be lucky enough to find white and pink ones too. The plant is a bulb with small, grape-shaped flowers, and it’s originally from the Mediterranean Sea. It’s easy to grow in the garden – both in pots and in beds – and as long as it gets plenty of sun, it’s very sturdy. That’s why it’s perfect for our Nordic gardens. We went to visit Waldenberger in the town of Rostock in Germany. A small but cozy café that recently celebrated its 5th birthday and that has been expanding over the years. The owners focus on everything being homemade and that goes for the interior design and for the products, including patty shells, cakes, pies, coffee and much more. The place offers a very special feel with the raw brick walls combined with recycling furniture – which you might recognize from your great-grandmother’s home – and more modern, industrial-style items. Everything is supplemented by old cushions with embroideries, lots of potted plants, panel walls and homemade cabinets, and this atmosphere makes us want to stay there for hours. We’re visiting Nicolien in a small town in Holland. Nicolien is 35 years old and she loves brocante. She’s particularly fond of old lingerie and she looks for it across the entire globe. She’s been living in this house for the past 15 years and she’s been collecting throughout the entire time. Nicolien’s job is to sell lingerie and that’s where the interest in collecting antique lingerie comes from. She is crazy about lingerie that improves the body shape and enlarges the body. Such items are very rare to find and Nicolien loves it when she finds one. We often have overnight guests here at Kærby Mølle and it’s nice to be able to offer them their own room for the night. This room in the middle of the house used to be our home office but now we’ve turned it into a guest bedroom. You can go into the garden directly from the room and the large windows offer a nice view of the fields and the forest where cattle and calves graze all year round. I wanted to add a bit of coziness and romance, so I wallpapered one of the walls with a reproduction of an old, Swedish wallpaper from the company Sandberg Tapeter. If you love wallpapers as much as I do, you’ll want to use them in the bedrooms too. Wallpapers create such a special atmosphere in a room. It doesn’t matter whether you decide to wallpaper the entire room or just one wall; in fact, sometimes it’s better to limit yourself to one wall, depending on the shape of the room. If you like the country style and romantic elements, Swedish wallpapers are perfect for you. A couple of years ago, Bodil came up with the idea of making "bumbags" (fanny packs) but she quickly got tired of making them out of uni-colored fabric from the stores. In her creative room, she had an old embroidery from her childhood home, made by her mother. That was the perfect solution! Why not make the front of the bumbag out of old embroideries to create a unique item? Imagine that someone has happily spent hours and hours making an embroidery but that the finished piece just ends up in a cabinet or a drawer because embroideries on the wall or on cushions are no longer trendy. Today, Bodil uses old embroideries, turning them into bumbags with a zipper and funny lining "as if by magic". That is pure…

Christmas roses are some of the first flowers in the garden. You can choose between lots of different types, including single and full ones. They’ll keep blossoming year after year, and they’re easy to grow. Once you’ve enjoyed them in your pots, you can plant them in the garden. Christmas roses will blossom as early as December and until April. Lenten roses are part of the same family and they’re available as very beautiful, full flowers. In nature, they’ll start blossoming in March or April but you can easily buy them now and plant them outdoors. Hanne lives in a beautiful, old apartment in the town of Halden in Norway, just 10 minutes from the border to Sweden. The town center is well-known for its empire style architecture, and the building where Hanne lives is no exception. Her apartment is located on the 4th and 5th floor and offers a view of the park. Hanne lives here along with her two sons, Rasmus (22) and Teodor (17), and her Cavalier King Charles dog called Hugo. The family has been living here since the renovating works in 2015. Prasklo is an upcycling brand that offers artistic vases and other items made of scrap glass and raw concrete. Two women are behind this project – Petra Svejdarova and Klara Vaculikova – and Petra established the brand in 2015. To this day, she creates every single item individually in the Prasklo studio in Prague, using her hands. Klara joined her in 2019, contributing projects and brand management. Prasklo is located in The Czech Republic, a country famous for its glass factories and crystal items, so working with glass is a natural thing to do there. But rather than producing something new, the women focus on using materials that have already been produced and that have been discarded for whatever reason.
