Rikke from the store "Hos Sibylle" has made this wreath and although it does take a bit of patience to make it, it just looks so wonderful once it’s done. If you wrap it carefully, you can use it again next year. What you need: Straw wreath Spanish moss Lots of blown-out quail eggs Florist’s thread Glue gun Feathers What to do: Wrap moss around the entire wreath and attach it with florist’s thread. Glue on the quail eggs one by one. Glue a broken egg in between them. Fill up the entire wreath with eggs and finish off by adorning it with a few feathers.…

What to do: Soak your cotton wool in tea to make it look old. Once the color has turned creamy/brown, squeeze the water out of the cotton wool. Place it on a heater or in another dry but airy place. It’s important that you pull the layers apart a bit so that you can make several thin shreds later. Allow the cotton wool to dry completely. Sprinkle a bit of flour onto the table, spray glue onto a layer of cotton wool and then place it onto the flour. Lightly press it down. The original farm, Gravendal, was built all the way back in 1769 but it burned down and was reconstructed in 1857. Here at the editorial office, we love old pickling jars. These glazed jars have been in use for more than 100 years here in Denmark and in recent years, they’ve become very popular once again. Obviously, you can still use them for pickling but they’re also great for so many others things throughout the home because they come in so many different sizes and shapes. The jars are great for kitchen utensils and herbs next to the stove. They’re also perfect for green plants. In fact, using cones as decoration items like we do now is a luxury version of the paper cones that were used as packaging in the good old days. When people went shopping to the local store, their goods were placed in paper cones. Today, they are mainly used as Christmas decoration items but why not use them at Easter as well? What you need: Self-hardening clay Stamps with motifs Wood glue Cardboard cones Rusty fencing wire Sand White paint Coffee for patinating Brown furniture wax A selection of brushes, punch pliers, pliers etc. What to do: Use your hands to press the clay flat so that it fits the motif. One of the old traditions that Rikke nurtures every year in her store is the production of these eggs with patterns that are inspired by blue fluted service. The flowers are painted onto standard, blown-out chicken eggs using a blue pen. Use a permanent marker for the best results. Blue fluted service is decorated with special flower motifs, originally inspired by Chinese chinaware. At first, such service was produced in Germany in the 1740s and as of 1775, it was also produced by the Danish, royal chinaware factory. Today, this service is still used in many Danish homes. Rikke paints the eggs freestyle. She looks at a blue fluted dish or plate and then she tries to draw similar patterns. Sometimes, her creations turn out completely different with different details…

These large Easter eggs are incredibly cute and they can hide all kinds of secrets. Visit the local DIY store, the book store or perhaps a second-hand store to find the materials. You can also use ribbons, lace and parts from old chests or similar things. Janne wants to show you step-by-step how to make these eggs with the fine, wooden ornaments. What to do: Pour the polyfilla into a piping bag with a nozzle. It’s got the texture of whipped cream but it’ll quickly dry and turn completely hard. We’re visiting Anette Alberts who’s been buying our magazine for many years. Back in 2015, we visited Anette in her wonderful apartment in Frederiksberg, Copenhagen, and she was one of the first people who invited us back to her home. We’d never turn down an invitation like that. It’s always good fun to watch a home change – especially homes of creative people who love interior design. Very often, things change a lot in the course of time and that’s true for Anette’s home as well. The basic style is still the same but it has turned a bit more rustic. Idea: Use other feathers and paint with other colors if you’d like to create a different expression. What to do: Start by drawing a basket. Cut out an opening for the decoration items to be pressed into later. Glue small pieces of crepe paper onto it to cover it completely. Paint the basket with paint mixed with plaster of Paris powder. Decorate the basket with paper with writing on it. Add the handle by using the two holes that you’ve made with the punch pliers. Now your basic basket is done and you can decorate it. Cut a hare out of some strong cardboard and paint it. Place the hare in the basket opening and adorn with dried corn leaves, the bell and the shredded sheet. Adorn the other basket…

Rikke has made these small Easter eggs with flowers and patterns, and they’re just so adorable. In the hobby stores, you can find both white clay and the stamps with motifs, but you can also take a walk in nature and look for seed heads or you can make the reliefs freehand. If the eggs are too colorless for your liking, you can paint them in various colors once they’re dry. What to do: Roll out the clay so it’s nice and thin. Make patterns with stamps or seed heads. Use a cardboard roll to create the actual shape, turning the roll into the shape of an egg. Cut out the eggs using a knife. Remove the cotton wool from a Q-tip and then use the Q-tip to make a…

Soon, everything will start blossoming in nature. If you’re finding it hard to wait, you can force some branches indoors. You can force magnolia from March or April. Always go for branches with visible buds. You can force apple and crabapple branches from mid-March and pear branches from February. Choose branches with lots of buds. Bring the branches inside and then wait 1-3 weeks before the naked branches start blooming. Make sure that they’ve got plenty of water and light. These beautiful bog myrtle branches, shown on the picture on the left, are still in bud and they create a completely different expression. An old, wooden box filled with milk bottles turns into a beautiful still life in spring. This is a nice combination of glass and wood that offers a rough contrast to the airy spring bulbs. Use a big, wooden tray to create an easily made table decoration item for your Easter dinners. Fill it with your favorite spring bulbs. They don’t need watering because they bring their own water inside the bulbs. Linda has used white scilla and grape hyacinths. Add a selection of beautiful eggs in between. It’s full of upcycled and rescued furniture and other items that mirror the historical character of the place. Asking Anett Jorméus to describe her style is like asking a painter why he paints. We’ve known Anne as long as we’ve been publishing books and magazines. She features in several of them and she’s shown us her beautiful home, her summer cottage and garden many times. Throughout the years, she’s painted many watercolor paintings for us which we’ve used as motifs for cards, cushions and posters. Anne tells us that it all started when she signed up for a weekend workshop on watercolor painting. She’s a creative and curious person, and she immediately fell in love with this painting technique.
