I grew up 30 years ago in a small farming community, Glidden, Iowa, a thousand or so people in the central part of the state. It was a great time to be a kid. Of course there were the usual school activities, plus lots of backyard sports, featuring whatever was in season, along with Friday night football games, basketball games, and generally lots of great times with family and friends. My passion, though, was and is still is, fishing.
