UIPM has completed its review of the events of 6 August, during the women’s pentathlon. A disciplinary panel found that German coach Kim Raisner broke UIPM rules by “striking a horse and encouraging her athlete to do the same”. The panel upheld the 7 August decision of the UIPM executive board to exclude Ms Raisner from the rest of the Games competition. It issued an official reprimand to Ms Raisner and a warning that any repeat of her behaviour could mean removal of her UIPM coach credentials and permission to coach at UIPM competitions. The panel ordered Ms Raisner to attend a coach education seminar, including a humane treatment of animals module before participation in any UIPM competition. RESCUE donkeys are helping to create a wild-flower meadow. The Donkey Sanctuary residents Paddy and Kelley are taking frequent walks through a Sidmouth meadow, helping to spread seeds. Wild-flower meadows are home to pollinating insects, such as bees, hoverflies and butterflies. OPINION THE standard continues to improve in the dressage - the good ones get better, the average and not so good move up too. Just under 30 topped 70%, particularly impressive with some on their second horses as their top horse went to Tokyo. Riders keep looking for ways to pull more marks out. I don’t think today’s horses have more movement than in the past, but the competitors ride more accurately and correctly. Fewer horses are really deep and behind the vertical.
