WITH a new sponsor and course-designer, Blenheim once again shone a spotlight on rising stars of the sport. As last year, the results were truly international, with six nationalities gaining top three placings. But, following the season’s theme, young Brits impressed too.
Kimberly Severson, 44, claimed the second CCI triumph in three years for the USA — and her first win here for 16 years, on the part-Irish draught Cooley Cross Border. In 2001 she won on Winsome Adante, and if “Cross” proves half as talented as him she’ll be a happy lady —he later won Kentucky a record three times, plus Olympic silver in Athens.
