Jimmy Choo celebrated the reopening of its renovated Landmark boutique with a cocktail party that spilled from the glamorous premises into the Landmark Atrium. Hong Kong supporters of the Institute of Contemporary Arts in London flocked to the Harilela family’s Kowloon Tong mansion to celebrate the cultural centre’s 70th anniversary with a lavish party. The 300-strong gathering, which included princesses, celebrities and art aficionados, was not short of drinking options, with not one but five bars serving an array of refreshments. Some of the libations were even created specially for the celebration, such as the Kajra Refashioned, a modern Indian twist on the classic Old Fashioned, and A Shot of Oriental Spice, a cocktail inspired by Sichuan cuisine. This month sees the publication of the inaugural issue of Hong Kong Tatler’s Generation T magazine, which profiles the city’s 100 brightest young connectors, innovators and disruptive talents. To celebrate the occasion, photographer Jason Capobianco was tasked with shooting four separate covers for this edition of Hong Kong Tatler. We knew it was going to be difficult to narrow down the 100 to a manageable cast of 14 for the shoot. Chanel’s pre-autumn show, Métiers d’Art, was a homage to film, art and the cities that mean and meant the most to Lagerfeld and Coco Chanel—Paris and Rome. Lagerfeld began his career in the eternal city, designing for Italian couture house Tiziani, while Coco designed costumes for many famous Italian movies directed by Visconti and Pasolini. When a long-time friend of mine died of cancer in March, Château Margaux’s Paul Pontallier, it got me to thinking how much the wine world has changed in the three decades or so since I started out as a wine critic. The death of the famous Bordeaux first growth’s managing director reminded me of just how important winemakers are to the great wines we drink today. It wasn’t always like that. I met my wife in New York in 1993 when we were both working at a small cafe in Soho, so the Big Apple is close to my heart.
