SYDNEY HOMEOWNERS CATHERINE AND SIMON had always wanted to live in an older house, and realised their dream when they found a 1928 Californian bungalow on the city’s Northern Beaches. But it needed some love. “We tackled the original part of the house first, restoring and painting all the dark wooden trim white to lighten the whole place up,” says Catherine, mum to three grown-up sons.
