Technics has confirmed its new Master Edition SL-1200G, and alternative black-finished SL-1210G, will be the last ‘Grand Class’ versions of its long-running vinyl player to be produced, citing ‘the discontinuation of some parts’. Available early 2026, priced £4999, the Master Edition update incorporates the Delta-Sigma Drive digital feedback system already seen in Technics’ SL-1300G [HFN Aug ’25] and SL-1200GR2 [HFN Sep ’24], in addition to revisions to the turntable’s coreless, dual-rotor direct-drive motor, and a new ‘silent’ power supply. Manufacture of the ’1200G and ’1210G Master Edition units, which feature gold-coloured tonearms, is limited to 1200 and 1210 units, respectively. Other SL-1200 models, including the entry-level MK7, remain in production.
