But lilies, carnations, and sunflowers have staying power. If you can, buy blooms that have just been cut and are locally grown, such as ones at a farmer’s market. I don’t play well with produce. Put plenty of distance between flowers and fruits and veggies, which release ethylene, a gas that can cause a bouquet to spoil more quickly.
