There are two common (and antiquated) misconceptions about woody fragrances.
Firstly, that they are primarily for men, and secondly, that there’s only one type of woody scent.
“There’s nothing inherently masculine about trees, so why should woody fragrances be limited to men?” says Dimitri Weber, founder and creative director of Australian luxury perfume house Goldfield & Banks.
“[Plus,] the woody family encompasses categories such as spicy, creamy, soft, resinous, and dry woods. Each of these categories is a completely different approach to woody ingredients,” he explains. Either way, there’s no denying the appeal of a scene-stealing wood scent, especially as we enter the festive season.
