Q: As an enthusiastic enthusiast, I am happy to keep my fleet of vehicles running myself when at all possible. Recently, my 1995 GMC Rally Wagon van, (G-20, 350, 4L60E, 288,000 miles) refused to run when hot, even though the starter motor cranked desperately.
I quickly suspected the fuel pump, which was a replacement with 150,000 miles. With a fresh pump installed, along with two other suspected old, original ignition components, it still would not run.
Then I read the letter from another reader a month or so ago who had a similar problem and who checked every electrical connection, finally solving the problem when finding a poor ground cable.
