CAROLINE FLACK Family receive apology from police Caroline Flack’s family have received an apology from the Metropolitan Police over its failure to keep a record about their decision to charge her with assault. The 40-year-old Love Island presenter, who took her own life in February 2020, was facing prosecution for allegedly assaulting her boyfriend Lewis Burton the previous December. However, the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) had recommended the star should only receive a caution. A police spokesperson said they were told to apologise after a review by the Independent Office for Police Conduct found there was no “record of rationale” for them to appeal the CPS’s decision. “We have done so and acknowledged the impact this has had on them,” the spokesperson said.
