Lifelong friends Zigi Shipper, 91, and Manfred Goldberg, 90, told the Duchess on a video call how they narrowly escaped being murdered when they were taken to Nazi concentration camps as teenagers.
Despite those terrible memories, Zigi couldn’t resist joking with Kate, whom he first met when she and the Duke visited Stutthof camp near Gdansk, Poland, where he and Manfred had been held, in 2017.
