Angelina Jolie’s decision to talk openly about her preventative double mastectomy has inspired British women to undergo the same operation, it was reported last week. The Genesis Breast Cancer Prevention Centre in Manchester said 83 double mastectomies were carried out in the 18 months since January 2014, almost triple the number in the previous year and a half. The centre says the increase is the result of “the Angelina effect”.
