Thousands of fans, many wielding lightsabers, descended on London’s Leicester Square last week to see Stormtroopers, Jedi Knights and a galaxy of stars turn out for the European premiere of Star Wars: The Force Awakens .
Just hours earlier members of the cast, including Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, English actress Gwendoline Christie and British newcomers Daisy Ridley and John Boyega, had flown into town on an R2-D2-themed plane from Los Angeles, where the world premiere had taken place two days earlier.
As she walked the red carpet, London-born Daisy, who plays the role of Rey in the seventh instalment of the iconic movie franchise, shouted to fans: “May the Force be with you.”
