Emma Lou is known for many things; she was first a model, but has since become a successful influencer, with nearly half a million followers, brand ambassador, winemaker and founder of The Greedy Model Instagram handle – a new venture born during lockdown with a growing following that is currently at 170k. Seeing the future with optimistic eyes, Rejina Pyo says her SS22 collection, “Captures the joy and freedom that comes with the arrival of summer”. The designer chose the London Aquatics Centre in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, Stratford, to stage her first London Fashion Week show since the pandemic. “I wanted to create the mood of being near to the water,” she tells us. Silhouettes were less structured than in previous seasons, tailoring was relaxed; dresses and shirts delicately draped and orange, pink and acid green swimwear was made with Italian recycled nylon. Photographs she’d taken on past travels to New York and Seoul were printed in full colour across T-shirts, tops and skirts; and a mouse motif, inspired by a children’s book she reads to her son, found its way…

Long before the sustainability conversation, creator and stylist Bay Garnett was pioneering the art of thrifting. “It’s quite extraordinary how much it’s grown even in the last 18 months,” she tells us. “It’s now a trend, whereas before it was thought of as a bit quirky.” Twenty years ago, Bay was the first stylist to shoot an entire charity shop story for Vogue. Nidhi Sunil is breaking down barriers. “Growing up in India, I never felt represented on billboards or advertisements,” she says. The former environmental-attorney-turned-model has made it her mission to challenge discrimination against dark-skinned people – a problem she’s faced in the fashion industry and since her school days. Monica Vinader’s north Norfolk home and namesake brand are entwined. Not only did she originally set up her studio and offices in the property’s old forge, which has since been annexed to the house and turned into an office and dining room. But, the jewellery designer mortgaged the family home to enable her and sister Gabriela to launch Monica Vinader in 2008, something she calmly describes as, “very risky”.
