While the average cost of a UK wedding is on the rise (£30,000, according to a survey carried out by bridebook.co.uk) the price of wedding dresses is actually becoming more affordable. This is great news for shrewd brides, who may not be looking for a budget wedding, but are seeking ways to cut their costs. And why not start with the dress, which is often a onetime wear? Georgia May Jagger might hail from a rock ‘n’ roll dynasty but it’s surely thanks to supermodel mom Jerry Hall that she has such an innate eye for fashion. There’s an unmistakable ethereal quality to Malaika Firth as she glides on to the set of her HFM cover shoot. Sans make-up she’s dressed comfortably in cashmere loungewear, hair in a top-knot and she’s all smiles. The model, who broke into the fashion industry in 2011 aged 17, is a heady mix of British, Swiss, Kenyan and Seychellois. “My family is very diverse, it's such a huge story,” she begins in her butter-soft tones – an affable product of her native Swahili tongue. Model Lydia Graham is the epitome of fresh-faced beauty when we meet her at the Ace Hotel in London’s Shoreditch. Fine-featured and chatty, she talks animatedly about working as model today. “We’re allowed to be more outspoken these days,” she says. “One of the main things clients look for at castings now is more substance – people are drawn to that rather than just how pretty you are”. The first sunshine of the year appeared on the opening day of London Fashion Week, and the collective, well-heeled euphoria was tangible. When fashion designer Malene Oddershede Bach describes her latest collection, it’s easy to visualise her polar opposite worlds colliding. She grew up as a tomboy on a farm in Denmark, but now the designer runs her fledgling fashion label in London’s Stoke Newington – where she also manages a photographic studio with her fiancé, a builder by trade. Acid Fix Acne scarring, sunspots and melasma (hormonal shadowy blotches), all come under the umbrella term hyperpigmentation. Although a broad-spectrum sunscreen helps prevent dark patches caused by UVA and UVB rays, AHAs (alpha hydroxy acids such as glycolic, mandelic and lactic) are the gold standard in exfoliation.
